Drawing Competition winners
The KRSF 2007 annual drawing competition attracted many superb
pictures and as always we had a difficult job choosing winners.
The design eventually chosen for the Foundation's greetings card
was created by Manal (9), from the Arab Resource Centre for Popular
Arts, Al Jana, Lebanon. It is called At a Party (right).
Other winners were:
Second prize - Bassel (10) from Enlighten Centre, Palestine
Third prize - shared between three winners from Syria: Moa'ath
(12) from UNRWA in Hama, Nadia (8) from the Deaf Institute in Dera'a,
and Hassan (11) from the Bashaer Al Noor Society in Lattakia
Fourth prize - Mariam (15) from Enlighten Centre, Palestine
Fifth prize - Mu'tasem (11) from Local Committee for Rehabilitation,
Jenin
There were also eleven Highly Commended winners from Jordan, Lebanon,
Syria, Iraq and Palestine.

Sponsored Walk update
In September 2006 we organised a sponsored walk in London to raise
funds for children in Lebanon and Gaza. We raised a total
of over £50,000 and we are extremely grateful to everyone
who took part. Two organisations have now benefited: the Lebanese
Physical Handicapped Union (LPHU) and Ard al-Insan (Terre des Hommes)
in Gaza.
Through physical and psychological therapy LPHU has assisted people
with disabilities to return home and regain their lives, in addition
to helping those who became disabled as a result of the conflict.
In Gaza, Ard al-Insan has distributed 1,000 bottles of multivitamins
for 400 malnourished children and young people in Gaza City and
Khan Younis. In addition, Ard al-Insan has offered comprehensive
health and nutritional services for 100 children suffering from
moderate or severe malnutrition.
We are relieved that Ard al-Insan was finally able to bring 62
battery-operated nebulisers into Gaza. Nebulisers are vital for
children with severe and chronic chest problems such as bronchial
asthma, and the frequent and long interruptions to Gaza's electricity
supply means that battery-operated ones are urgently needed. Unfortunately
the siege of Gaza severely hampered the distribution process and
the entry of nebulisers into Gaza was delayed for over a year. The
nebulisers have now been distributed to the children who need them.
