FURTHER EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Study for a Master's Degree in the UK

The KRSF is able to provide full or partial scholarships for masters' degrees at universities around the UK depending on the level of financial need or whether other grants are available to applicants. While we are able to provide full funding, we are also happy to provide matching funds.

In addition, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (the FCO) and the KRSF jointly fund up to 10 KRSF/Chevening awards annually for postgraduate study.

The Foundation can also consider distance learning courses and shorter postgraduate courses at accredited UK academic institutions.

If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please read the information below carefully.

To apply for a Karim Rida Said Scholarship you need to:

  1. have a good first degree

  2. provide evidence of your proficiency in English

  3. be under forty years of age

  4. be Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian or Palestinian (including Palestinians inside Israel) and be resident in the Middle East

  5. demonstrate that your chosen course of study will be of use to your home country or the Middle East region

  6. have at least two years' work experience

  7. apply for a place on a course at one of the Foundation's partner universities, if your proposed course is offered there. For a list of our partner universities, please click here.

  8. sign a binding undertaking to return to your home country or another of the Foundation's target countries.

The Foundation welcomes applications from disabled people.

Please complete these forms carefully and enclose all requested information when submitting your application.

Where to send your application

If you are in Jordan, Lebanon Palestine or Syria you must return your form to the British Council offices in each of these countries (see below for addresses) by 31 January each year. If you are in Iraq you should return your form to the British Council in Baghdad or Basra if possible.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE IN ONE OF THESE COUNTRIES YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IF IT IS SENT DIRECT TO THE FOUNDATION. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE IN IRAQ AND UNABLE TO REACH A BRITISH COUNCIL OFFICE, YOU MAY RETURN YOUR FORM TO THE FOUNDATION'S LONDON OFFICE BY 31 JANUARY.

If you are in the UK you must return your forms to the KRSF office in London by 1 May of each year (see below for address).

 

Study at Oxford and Cambridge

There is a separate application procedure for Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Application forms for Karim Rida Said Oxford and Cambridge scholarships are available from the university websites: OXFORD UNIVERSITY, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY.

The deadline for Oxford applications is 17 March for most courses but please check the Oxford University prospectus. You must send your completed forms directly to the university (see university website for address).

The deadline for Cambridge applications is 31 January. You must send your completed forms directly to the university (see university website for address).

Applicants for all other universities should complete the KRSF application form above.

Raid Khattab was supported by the Foundation for an MSc in Biomedical Engineering. Since returning to the Middle East he has focused on putting what he learnt into practice, including providing much needed training for prosthetists and orthotists.

 
 

Darine was supported by the KRSF for an MA in Art and Media Practice at the University of Westminster in 2003/04. Since her return to Lebanon she has been teaching courses in the History of Art at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and courses in Non-linear Editing and Introduction to Acting at the American University College of Science and Technology (AUST).
